Australia Day: City of Canning to host family fun day on Shelley Beach foreshore

A family fun day will be hosted by the City of Canning at Shelley Beach to mark Australia Day.
It will be held on Monday, January 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with activities, entertainment and experiences for all ages, including four-legged family members.
One of the highlights of the event will be the puppy parade, where dogs of all shapes and sizes can take part in a fun parade along the shore.
Dog registrations will be taken at the stage between 10.00-11.00 or until capacity is reached and the walk will start at 11.30.
There will be a variety of free activities for children and families, animal encounters, live entertainment, food trucks, a citizenship ceremony and the announcement of Canning City community citizen of the year award winners.
Mayor Patrick Hall said the event is about celebrating community connection in a welcoming outdoor setting.
“Australia Day Family Fun Day is a chance for our community to come together in a relaxed and inclusive way,” he said.
“It’s about spending time with family, friends and neighbors, enjoying our beautiful coastlines and celebrating the community spirit that makes the City of Canning a great place to live.”
The fun day is supported by Perth Airport and delivered with grant funding from the Plastic Free River Park Program and the National Australia Day Council.
It is ticketless, no reservation is required. Participants are encouraged to plan ahead, carpool or use public transportation where possible due to limited parking.
