$1 million reward announced 50 years after Eloise Worledge’s disappearance

Victoria police offer $1 million reward for information on suspicious disappearance Eloise WorledgeFifty years have passed since he was last seen.
The reward is the only one of its kind in the state because it includes payment for information that leads not only to a possible perpetrator but to Worledge’s location or remains.
Worledge, then eight years old, was reported missing by her family on January 13, 1976. He was last seen in bed at his home in Beaumaris at around 23.40 the previous night.
The next day, his family found the fly screen on his window had been cut open, but nothing else appeared to have been taken from the room.
Despite the best efforts of the police, no credible evidence has emerged that conclusively explains the girl’s disappearance or identifies those responsible.
Detective Inspector Dave Dunstan The missing persons team said the past decades had been “incredibly difficult for Eloise’s family, and to this day they live with the trauma of her disappearance, which continues to affect them.”
Not only did Eloise’s parents die without knowing what happened to their daughter, but they also endured years of unfair speculation that they were involved.
Prime Minister to talk about hate speech laws
Anthony Albanese He is expected to say more this morning about the hate speech bill he wants to pass through parliament next week.
The Prime Minister confirmed yesterday that parliament will be called two days early next week, on Monday and Tuesday, to ensure the new laws are passed quickly. Parliament was due to return for the year on 3 February. The meeting will also include condolences for the 15 people killed in Bondi last month.
But as Krishani Dhanji According to reports this morning, there may be a loophole in the bill as it stands that would allow someone accused of hate speech to claim innocence if they quoted a religious text, regardless of what they are accused of saying.
