In his statement last night, the Prime Minister said, Jacinta AllanHe said the government would refund affected passengers and expected “Telstra to match that dollar for dollar”.

The state government has also pledged to fund two days of free travel on the V/Line.

“It is completely unacceptable that so many Victorians have been left without an essential service for so long,” Allan said.

“Telstra must compensate Victorians and help ensure this never happens again… Australians have endured too many major disruptions and it has always been rural people who suffer the most,” he said.
