David Pocock calls for ‘fair returns’ on gas exports

David Pocock He says he does not want the gas sector to be “stopped”, but wants “a fair return from our gas exports”.

Appearing on Insiders, the ACT’s independent senator is asked about calls for a 25% tax on gas exports.

double quotesWe are currently one of the largest gas exporters in the world. My argument is that we need to get a fair return from the export of this gas and at the same time reduce the price of gas in Australia.

We are constantly told that we are experiencing some kind of gas shortage. We have producers here paying more for Australian gas than Japan buys our gas.
