Australian police release Peter Falconio killer interview footage

Australian police have released body camera footage of an interview in which the man who killed British backpacker Peter Falconio tried to reveal the location of the body.

Falconio, from Huddersfield, was shot dead on a remote highway near the Northern Territory town of Barrow Creek, about 300km north of Alice Springs, in July 2001.

Killer Bradley Murdoch, 67, died of throat cancer in prison last year, but the whereabouts of his remains have not been disclosed.

The footage was released ahead of the 25th anniversary of her disappearance by Northern Territory police, who said police were “committed to bringing this investigation to a full conclusion”.

In the video, a police officer can be heard telling Murdoch: “I want you to consider if Peter Falconio is your son and if someone knows something about where his body is.”

Murdoch, wearing a green prison jumper, replies: “I don’t know anything about that.”

He adds: “Don’t fuck around because I’m always going to cut you short, okay?

“I don’t know anything. I’ve been saying this for 22 years. I don’t know anything. You keep asking these questions. I don’t know anything.”
