Australian stalker of Norway princess given ban

According to the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, an Australian man was banned from approaching Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway for two years after writing a card to the 22-year-old Princess Ingrid Alexandra.

The court issued a restraining order against the 63-year-old man, the newspaper reported Wednesday. He was also banned from entering the University of Sydney for two years. The crown princess is currently studying international relations and political economy there.

The newspaper quoted the Australian as saying he wrote a card to Ingrid Alexandra to ask for her friendship and that it was not threatening in any way. According to the report, he considered the princess a good person and did not want to upset her.

The paper continued that the card suggested several events that might interest the man who had met him before. He apologized to Ingrid Alexandra through a third party for the incident.

The report stated that after the hearing, the Australian got into an argument with a photographer and was taken away by the police. He was later released on bail.

According to Norwegian media, Princess Ingrid Alexandra is now back in Oslo.

Her father, Crown Prince Haakon, had previously announced that he would cut short his daughter’s stay in Australia to be with her mother.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit suffers from a serious lung condition. His condition has deteriorated significantly recently, the Crown Court heard.
