Two-year-old boy is killed and five people are seriously injured after their Toyota broke down on major A-road and was hit by another car

A two-year-old child died and five people were seriously injured when their car broke down and crashed on a main highway.
The little boy, who was from London, was in the Toyota Auris that broke down on the A1 motorway in Cambridgeshire at around 6.20pm on Saturday.
The car was standing in an active lane on the northbound carriageway when it crashed into a Volkswagen Touran near Stibbington Junction.
The other five people in the Toyota were taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a Peterborough man, suffered only minor injuries.
The 64-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was released on bail until March 20.
Cambridgeshire Police have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
The tragic accident took place on the A1 in Cambridgeshire, just past Stibbington Junction.
It was stated that all five seriously injured people were from London.
Sergeant David McIlwhan said in a statement: ‘Our thoughts are with the parents and family of this young child who tragically lost his life in this collision.
‘The family is supported by specialist family liaison officers.
‘I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or has camera footage but was unable to stop at the scene to get in touch.’
Anyone with information about the collision should report to police online, quoting incident number 401 of December 20.
