Baby girl killed in Redcar dog ‘attack’ named as details of 999 call emerge | UK | News

According to an investigation, the name of the girl who died after an alleged dog attack has been revealed. Maggie May Ann Moody was sadly pronounced dead at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough on 9 April.
The inquest into her death, which began at Teesside Coroner’s Court on Tuesday, April 21, heard the girl was a day shy of her three-month milestone. Teesside and Hartlepool district coroner Paul Appleton told the short hearing at Middlesbrough Town Hall: “At 1.33pm on 9 April 2026, Cleveland Police force received a 999 call from the ambulance service advising they required assistance regarding an incident at Hardale Grove in Redcar. [They were] An intervention was made to the situation where the child was not breathing and was attacked by a dog.
“The ambulance service gave instructions over the phone on how to perform CPR until emergency workers arrived. “I was told two dogs were found at the address in Hardale Grove.
“Initial information given to my officer indicated that the dogs were initially in the backyard but later moved towards the room where Maggie was located.”
Following autopsy, the provisional medical cause of death at this stage is “head trauma.” The investigation learned how the child was identified by his grandmother on April 11, two days after his death.
The inquest heard Maggie was born in Newcastle weeks before January 10.

A 45-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, April 9, on suspicion of being responsible for a dog that went dangerously out of control and caused fatal injuries, and was subsequently released on conditional bail following questioning.
On Monday, April 13, police confirmed the arrest of two more men. A 31-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of neglecting her child and taking responsibility for a dog that got dangerously out of control, resulting in death. A 36-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of taking responsibility for a dog that got dangerously out of control and resulted in death.
Both individuals were later released on conditional bail.
The investigation was postponed.
