BRICS Heads of Space Agencies (HOSA) 2026 meeting is being held in Bengaluru.

India, the 2026 Chairman of BRICS, will host HOSA on 23 and 24 June. The heads and senior representatives of the space agencies of 11 BRICS member countries (Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates) will attend the meeting.

The theme is Building for Resilience, Innovation, Collaboration and Sustainability.

ISRO said the theme reflects India’s people-centric, humanity-first approach expressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the BRICS Summit 2025 held in Rio-de-Janeiro, Brazil.

ISRO added that the meeting will serve as an important platform for dialogue and cooperation among BRICS countries on important issues shaping the future of the global space sector.

“Space sustainability will be a key area of focus and member organizations are expected to exchange views on local governance frameworks to support sustainable space operations and debris-free space missions. Discussions will focus on policy approaches, regulatory frameworks and best practices to ensure long-term sustainability of space activities,” ISRO said.

During the meeting, member organizations will deliberate on proposed amendments to the BRICS Remote Sensing Satellite Constellation (RSSC) Agreement to include new members and discuss the Terms of Reference for the proposed BRICS Space Council.

Indian space technology companies will have a platform at the event where India’s National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) will facilitate presentations giving delegates an insight into the scope of capabilities being developed across launch services, satellite technologies, geospatial intelligence and downstream applications.

According to ISRO, an industry visit was also organized to the facilities of private space enterprises to provide first-hand insight into India’s growing space ecosystem.

Union Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh will be present at the valedictory ceremony of this event and interact with the heads of BRICS space agencies.
