Berkshire shares suffer longest losing streak in more than 7 years
Berkshire Hathaway’s shares have fallen for eight consecutive days.
This was their longest losing streak since a streak of eight consecutive losses in December 2018.

Berkshire’s new Japanese investment rises in value
Berkshire Hathaway’s newest investment in Japan is off to a strong start.

Berkshire’s insurance chief, Ajit Jain, was quoted as saying: “We expect this Strategic Partnership to create attractive long-term opportunities for both organizations.”
Barron’s reported that Jain is overseeing the investment, possibly including former CEO Warren Buffett, who now serves as chairman of the board.
“The deal shows that Berkshire’s ability to do insurance deals has not diminished despite Buffett stepping down as CEO in favor of Greg Abel. This bodes well for Berkshire, given the importance of insurance to the $1 trillion market cap company.”
Tokio Marine issued new shares for Berkshire to purchase. plans to buy back an equal amount of its already issued shares to prevent dilution for existing shareholders.
Berkshire will be allowed to increase its stake to just under 10% through open market purchases. Going higher requires approval from Tokio Marine’s board of directors.
insurance notes Tokio Marine has spent more than $17 billion over the past two decades on acquisitions in the United States, including Philadelphia Insurance Companies and Delphi Insurance Group.
He expects the new partnership to “accelerate this trajectory through Berkshire’s deal sourcing access and reinsurance capacity.”
