Ryan Routh begins self-defense in attempted Trump assassination trial

In the opening statement, Ryan Routh, accused of assassinating last September Donald Trump last September, was forced to end his words by the judge.
Entry expressions are often used to prevent evidence and arguments in the rest of the hearing. However, Mr. Routh was dedicated to the philosophical hamlits of intent, the history of human evolution, the need to be kind to each other ve and for generations of the child, “Hearthstones were devoted to beauty, smoothly worn”.
Adolf called Hitler and Vladimir Putin and “Modern trials seem to eliminate everything that is human.”
US Regional Judge Aileen Cannon interrupted Mr. Routh three times to remind him of the appropriate procedure and condemn him for “this court’s mockery”. At one point, he finally excused the jury as he scolded him before he completely suspended his words.
Opening statements and frequent scoldings of the judge, the government questioned five witnesses and that Mr. Routh struggled to make a consistent defense – and sometimes uncomfortable – prepared the ground for the first day.
59 -year -old Mr. Routh is accused of five crimes, including the assassination of a great presidential candidate, and chose to represent himself. He claimed he was not guilty.
For the prosecution, lawyer John Shipley Jr said in his opening speech that Routh’s “election decided to remove the election from the American people”, trying to assassinate Trump in the middle of the 2024 elections.
“This land is carefully prepared and fatal serious,” Mr. Shipley added.
“This case is not about whether you love Donald Trump, Mr Mr. Shipley said to the jury. Instead, he was about whether Routh was planning to kill him.
Mr Shipley, mobile phone data, security images, Routh’s intention to kill Trump, a hand -written note and eyewitness expression will prove beyond a reasonable suspicion, he said.
The first witness Robert Fercano was a member of Trump’s secret service detail. Last September, Trump said how he discovered a man hiding around the West Palm Beach Golf field.
Mr. Fercano, while patrolling the environment close to the sixth hole of the golf field, a face, armored plate and a white -style weapon passing through the fence looks like a barrel. There he described the man he discovered as Mr. Routh, who was alone from a defense table wearing a gray blazer and blue tie.
After saying, “Hey, sir,” Mr. Fercano moaned and said, “He smiled at me.” But soon he noticed that the armor was covered on the fence and He noticed that a gun was pointed out “directly” to him. He called for a backup and began to move away while reporting the man.
The jury members heard the voice of his colleagues, Mr. Fercano Radioing after discharging his gun in the direction of Mr. Routh: “Filming was fired! Fires fired!
Upon the request of the prosecutors, the agent stood in front of the jury holding the SKS semi -automatic rifle.
Shortly after, Mr. Routh began his cross -examination.
“Is it good to survive?” He asked the agent. Later, he asked a series of questions about the most likely position that a person could assume that he was “a bad man trying to conceal myself”.
Orum I know that the gun pointed to my face, Mr. Fercano said in response to Mr. Routh about the positioning of the gun.
Later, the prosecutors questioned Tommy McGee, who said he saw a man he described as Mr. Routh.
After hearing gunfire from the road outside the golf field, McGee, a mental health expert, said to the jury that a man coming out of bushes sees “scattered, messy and crazy”.
Man, Mr. McGee’nin running front of the road in front of the vehicle, “We looked at each other,” he said.
Mr. McGee said he decided to make a U -turn and follow the man. Finally, Mr. Routh caught an image of the alleged car and followed the vehicle to download the plate number.
Authorities used this information to find the vehicle of Mr. Routh, who went north towards Interstate 95, detained him, and flew Mr. McGee in a helicopter to describe him.
The jury watched a Dashcam video of Mr. McGee in a law enforcement vehicle on September 15, 2024, because the police detained as a man running in front of his car on the highway.
Instead of questioning Mr. McGee during the cross exams, Mr. Routh said to him: “You are my hero. You are a good man.”
Orum I congratulate your efforts, Mr. Routh said.
Prosecutors called three more witnesses on Thursday: Another US secret service agent who responded to the assassination attempt and two FBI agents on holding and processing Mr. Routh.
As the children of Mr. Routh, a man and a woman who described themselves to the BBC followed the trials behind the courtroom.
