Brit, 46, ‘who tried to slit tourist’s throat’ is arrested on suspicion of attempted murder months after Tenerife attack

A British fugitive accused of trying to slit the throat of another Brit at a holiday complex in Tenerife was arrested after flying to the island from Liverpool.

The 46-year-old man, wanted on suspicion of attempted murder, was detained by police immediately after getting off his plane at Tenerife South Airport.

The suspect is alleged to have carried out a brutal knife attack on a tourist complex in Adeje in the south of the island in December last year, leaving the victim with life-threatening injuries.

The man allegedly suffered serious injuries to vital areas, including his neck, but survived thanks to the intervention of a witness before the attacker escaped.

Tenerife National Police confirmed today: ‘Officers arrested a man who had flown in from Liverpool at Tenerife South-Reina Sofia Airport for allegedly committing the offense of attempted murder.

‘An arrest warrant has been issued for the detainee due to the crime. The incidents took place in December last year at a complex in Adeje municipality.

‘The victim was subjected to multiple attacks with a large bladed weapon on his vital areas, including his neck. He was saved thanks to the intervention of a bystander.

‘The person allegedly responsible for these acts managed to escape, so the investigation has remained open ever since.

Pamela Gwinnett (pictured), 63, fled to the Spanish island in April 2025 while out on bail for her crimes.

‘He also has several pending cases for reckless driving, assaulting law enforcement officers and causing bodily harm.’

Police did not disclose the nationality of the suspect in their official statement, but well-placed sources confirmed that both the suspect and the alleged victim are British citizens.

It was not immediately clear this afternoon what led to the alleged deadly attack.

The arrest comes just days after the same police force released footage showing the moment ‘Black Widow’ fraudster Pamela Gwinnett was arrested in Tenerife.

Gwinnett, who was tanned in the sun, was handcuffed and taken away after police found him on the resort island.

The 62-year-old defrauded vulnerable 89-year-old Joan Green of nearly £300,000 by pretending to be her carer and isolating the pensioner from her family.

The retired accountant allegedly kept his victim like a ‘caged animal’ at his home in Chorley, Lancashire, spending the money on Botox treatments, a car worth £22,250, expensive meals and mortgages on properties he owned.

Following the pensioner’s death in November 2022, Gwinnett fled to Tenerife while awaiting trial for theft and fraud.

Then last October Gwinnett was convicted of theft and fraud by abuse of office and sentenced to six years in prison in his absence, but has so far avoided prison time.

However, after his arrest, he is expected to be extradited to England to begin serving his sentence.
