Car ploughs into diners at busy café as two women hospitalised | World | News

In the terrible incident that occurred when a car crashed into a cafe, two women were thrown to the ground while drinking coffee.
The shocking collision happened just before 2.30pm on Wednesday, May 13, at Bakers Choice on Watsonia Road in the north-east of the city.
That sad moment when the women were thrown from their seats when the vehicle hit the chairs was reflected on CCTV footage.
A woman was crushed under a car that crashed into the adjacent cafe while continuing to move forward.
He was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition.
The second woman jumped out of her seat and was taken to Austin Hospital.
Both women are currently in stable condition.
A staff member working at the cafe next door told 7News there was significant chaos following the collision.
Tony Rabie said: “We heard a lot of screaming and heard something smashing.
“We escaped from the barber shop next door and unfortunately an old woman was trapped under the car and another woman was trapped in front of the bakery.”
The driver of the Camry was parked near the outdoor seating area when he lost control of the vehicle while getting out.
Victoria Police confirmed no charges have been laid in relation to the incident.
