Birmingham shooting: Police swarm residential street as man ‘shot on doorstep’ | UK | News

Police have launched an investigation after a man was shot in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said a man in his 30s suffered injuries to his chest and shoulder after shots were fired at the door of a property in Montgomery Street, Sparkbrook, last night (Tuesday, March 26), which will not be life-altering or threatening.

Police added that the person who fired the gun is believed to have arrived and left in a black vehicle. The force has now launched an appeal encouraging the public to come forward with information.

A spokesman said: “We are investigating a shooting on a street in Birmingham last night. It is believed a gunshot was fired at the gate of a property on Montgomery Street at around 7.20pm.

“A man in his 30s suffered injuries to his chest and shoulder, which are not life-altering or threatening. It is believed that the person who fired the gun arrived and left in a black vehicle.

“Our Serious Crime Unit is investigating, CCTV is being reviewed and witnesses are being spoken to. There are additional officers in the area today and we would encourage anyone with information to contact 101 or via Live Chat. Quote log 4962 dated 27 March.”
