Blood, bruises and sleepless nights: Trump’s defiant health confession as he reveals a jaw-dropping aspirin habit – and his biggest regret

Donald Trump, who will become America’s oldest serving president at the end of his second term, admitted that he defied doctors’ orders and took steps to ease speculation about his health.
President admits he gave more aspirin than his doctors recommended ‘because I’m a little superstitious’ He confessed to the Wall Street Journal.
“They say aspirin is good for thinning the blood, and I don’t want thick blood flowing into my heart,” Trump added. ‘I want beautiful, thin blood to flow into my heart. Does this make sense?’
The high dose of 325 milligrams a day, which Trump says he has used for 25 years, causes him to bruise more easily and his doctors encourage him to take lower doses of aspirin. The low dose is usually around 81 milligrams, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Taking higher doses can significantly increase the severity of side effects such as internal bleeding in the stomach, intestines and brain, especially in elderly patients. But the biggest benefit is potentially avoiding a heart attack by keeping blood flow strong.
Trump’s hands are often depicted with a glob of makeup; White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirms he hid the bruises and says it was a result of the president regularly shaking people’s hands.
Some aides claim they are forced to shout in meetings because Trump’s hearing loss has diminished and photos have frequently emerged showing Trump struggling to keep his eyes open during White House events.
Instead of listening to medical advice, the 79-year-old man relies on what he calls ‘good genetics’.

Trump’s hands are often depicted with bruises. Aspirin thins the blood and makes bruising much easier.
Trump began using concealer and foundation to cover discoloration on his hands; however, makeup often does not match skin tone and is as noticeable as bruising.
Trump became the oldest person to hold the presidency. The record he set in 2016 was broken by Joe Biden in 2020, and then again when Trump won a second non-consecutive term in 2024.
Biden was 82 years old when his presidency ended last January, but Trump will live 82 years and seven months later if he serves until January 2029.
Biden has received a lot of criticism for his declining health and mental acuity during his four years in office. There were widespread reports of concerns even within his own team about his suitability to continue leading the country.
Biden announced in May 2025, just four months after leaving office, that he had been diagnosed with aggressive-stage prostate cancer that had metastasized to his bones. Medical experts were skeptical that the diagnosis actually occurred after he left office, considering that presidents’ health was closely monitored throughout their tenure and that the cancer had progressed to Stage Four.
In addition to visible bruising, Trump briefly wore compression socks for his swollen ankles and stopped wearing them because he didn’t like them, according to the Journal.
He also said he regretted having to undergo advanced imaging during his examination at Walter Reed Medical Center because it allowed further examination of his age and health.
Regarding his decision to get a cardiovascular and abdominal scan in October 2025, Trump said: “Looking back, it’s too bad I got it because it gave them some ammunition.” There’s no problem.”
For years leading up to his initial Covid-19 diagnosis and colonoscopy, Trump has sought to conceal or downplay circumstances that might have led to any speculation about his health.
But the fragility of his skin became so obvious that even Attorney General Pam Bondi caused her hand to bleed when her ring high-fived her at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July 2024.
It seems that Trump frequently brings up this bloody incident to his aides in the White House.

People close to the president tell the WSJ that he is showing signs of aging publicly and privately.
Trump sleeps very little but maintains a strict schedule, though he always says he gets by on little sleep.
He denied allegations to the Journal by aides, donors and friends that he was hard of hearing, and insisted that he did not fall asleep during cabinet meetings or Oval Office events, despite photographic evidence.
Trump’s only apparent physical activity is playing golf regularly, and he is known to consume a diet of fast food high in sodium and fat, such as McDonalds and Diet Coke.
He even kept his red button, which summoned an aide to bring him a soda on command, since his first term in the Oval Office.
