Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood charged with multiple rape and sex offences

Former Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood has been accused of multiple counts of rape and sexual assault.

The 68-year-old is accused of offending against seven different women as young as 17, the Metropolitan Police said.

He is charged with four counts of rape, nine counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault.

The alleged crimes are said to have been committed between 1983 and 2016.

Westwood, of Westminster, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on November 11.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy said: “It takes courage to come forward and report such allegations. The women who did this put their trust in us and we continue to provide them with all the support possible.”
