Bloodhound K-9 aids in Georgia manhunt that leads to shooting suspect’s arrest

A 10-hour manhunt in Georgia ended Tuesday when a bloodhound helped deputies capture a “dangerous” suspect accused of shooting the mother of his child and fleeing the scene on foot.
The suspect has been identified as 46-year-old Darian Berry Sr., a previously convicted felon, according to the Butts County Sheriff’s Office. was determined as .
The local incident occurred Tuesday morning in the city of Flovilla, about 50 miles south of Atlanta, authorities said.
“He chose to flee, but was unable to outrun the determination of law enforcement or the incredible pursuit ability of the bloodhounds who eventually helped take him into custody,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. The statement was included.

Deputies first responded to the scene following reports of a domestic incident involving Berry.
Berry allegedly attempted to confine or restrain his victim. He was also accused of arson and harassment.

When deputies arrived, Berry allegedly fled the scene on foot and was believed to be in possession of a handgun, prompting a massive search effort.
The Georgia community was also put on a “Be on the Lookout” alert as authorities worked to find the suspect.

A Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Unit bloodhound played a key role in helping authorities find Berry, who was taken into custody Tuesday evening, authorities said.

Berry currently faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, stalking, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, obstruction, two counts of arson, battery, domestic violence and false imprisonment.
