B&M announces 13,000 sq ft mega store in old Debenhams | UK | News

B&M announces plans for 13,660sq ft megastore in former site Debenhams facilities. The affordable retailer said its new store will offer homewares, health, food and beauty products from its usual range.
Deal hunters can look forward to a branch opening in Stirling’s Thistles Shopping Center later this year.
B&MIts presence in the center is also expected to create jobs for local people, according to Retail Times.
A spokesperson for B&M Thistles Stirling told the publication: “We feel extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people… We hope customers will be delighted with their new store.”
Gary Turnbull, manager of Thistles Shopping Centre, described B&M’s move into the former Debenhams building as a “really positive step” for the retail centre.
He said: “Bringing a much-loved brand to such an important space reflects the continued demand we are seeing from both retailers and shoppers.”
B&M is opening more branches across the country and renovating some of its existing outlets.
A branch in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, completed a refurbishment this week with increased floor space and an “enhanced” product range.
This year, stores were also renovated in Liverpool, Berwick, Llandudno and Seaham, while B&M opened branches in Fort William, Waltham Cross, Diss, Peterhead and Middlesbrough.
Debenhams was once a high street favorite, with major premises in towns and cities across the country.
The Debenhams brand and website were acquired by Boohoo in 2021, while physical stores closed their doors for the last time, leaving some buildings at risk of becoming derelict.
However, Primark announced in April that it would take over a former Debenhams site in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
A former Debenhams store is set to be demolished to make way for student accommodation in Norwich.
Plans to convert another former Debenhams store in Oxford into laboratory space in a £125 million project have also received the green light from the city council.
