BMC Budget LIVE: All eyes on Mumbai civic body budget today

The budget document shows BMC has 7,453 teachers for 2,76,115 students in 931 primary schools

The document uploaded on the official BMC website shows that BMC has 7,453 teachers serving 2,76,115 students (1,41,013 boys and 1,35,102 girls) in 931 primary schools across 8 different secondary schools – Marathi, Hindi, Urdu, English, Gujarati, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil.

Among them, 77 teachers are working with 845 specially-abled students (578 boys and 267 girls) in 19 BMC special schools. BMC has 377 private aided schools receiving grants and employs 2,367 teachers. These schools provide education to 96,513 students (47,721 boys and 48,792 girls) in Std. 1st to Std. 4..

Currently 900 classes of kindergarten, 168 pre-primary classes of MPS and 115 pre-primary classes of CBSE, ICSE and IB & IGCSE Boards are run by BMC. A total of 40,595 students are enrolled in these classes.

A total of 21 BMC schools are operating under other boards, including 18 schools of CBSE board and 1 school each of ICSE, IGCSE and IB Board. A total of 13,316 students from Kindergarten to Std. 10 of them continue their education in these schools.
