A massive manhunt in Kansas City, Missouri, to find 22-year-old Oscar Sanchez-Munoz is entering its seventh day. Sanchez-Munoz is suspected of killing one person and wounding four others in a recent shooting. His family reported that he showed signs of schizophrenia because the FBI offered a $25,000 reward for information.

A body believed to be Oscar Sanchez-Munoz, the 22-year-old suspect in the deadly shootings on a highway near the Kansas City World Cup stadiums, was found by his family in the basement of a burned-out home, police told Fox News on Wednesday.
Authorities said the family contacted police around 14:00 local time after finding decomposed remains hidden under piles of debris.
Although the family visited the house, which caught fire several times during the overnight police response, police said they found the body only after removing debris and noticing a distinct odor.

Previously, investigators, federal partners and K-9 units had searched the property in Independence, Missouri, repeatedly to no avail.
Authorities said the basement had partially collapsed, filled with water and was filled with a large amount of “clutter,” making the search difficult.
The discovery brings a putative end to a massive multi-agency manhunt that began after Sanchez-Munoz allegedly opened fire on vehicles on Interstate 70, just a few miles from Arrowhead Stadium, home of the FIFA World Cup matches.

A half-dozen shootings left one person dead and several others seriously injured, including an Uber driver who was shot while transporting football fans.
During the search for Sanchez-Munoz, the FBI warned the public that he was “armed and dangerous” and offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
Acting U.S. Attorney Todd Blanche had publicly speculated that the suspect may have died at his home in Missouri, but police were unable to confirm this at the time.

Authorities stated that investigators are currently operating with the assumption that the deceased is Sanchez-Munoz, and noted that the clothes on the body are the same as those worn by the attacker in last week’s attacks.
The medical examiner will confirm the identity and determine the cause of death.
