Faculty of private agriculture college dies, 13 injured after being stung by bees in Panruti

A professor of a private agriculture college, who was visiting an oil palm plantation at Kozhipakkam near Panruti in Cuddalore district on Wednesday, was attacked by bees and 13 students were also injured.
The deceased has been identified as S. Suresh, professor of Adhiparasakthi Agricultural College in Ranipet and resident of Panruti Police Line. Police said 18 students studying second-year diploma in the university along with two faculty members came for a field visit to the palm oil plantation owned by Ravichandran Reddiyar from Kozhipakkam.
After touring the farmer’s bee farm (bee farm), the students were visiting the oil palm plantation with Mr. Suresh when a swarm of bees attacked them. The students and faculty members were immediately taken to Panruti General Hospital, where doctors declared Suresh dead on the spot. 13 people, including a faculty member, were hospitalized.
