Bomb threat forces Newbury school to close while police investigate

A school in Newbury was closed the day after a bomb threat in the early morning.
Park House School on Andover Road did not allow students to attend on Tuesday after receiving a threat early in the morning. The school has activated the emergency procedures and works closely with Thames Valley police to investigate what happened.
Students were advised to stay at home and a few students who came to the school gates were accompanied by a safe area before dismissed. The school then confirmed that all students were safe and announced.
Police said they believe that there is no danger to the public and now investigating it as a malicious communication event.
Forces said in a statement: “This morning we are investigating a malicious communication event in Park House School in Newbury, Andover Road.
“Although the school has decided to close for the day, we believe that the incident was isolated and no threat is supported, so there is no danger to the public.
“If you have any concerns, please contact.”
Park House School, who welcomed an ‘extraordinary’ judgment from Ofted in June, is a part of Greenshaw Learning Trust, which has schools in South London, Surrey, Berkshire, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, Bristol and Plymouth.
Greenshaw Learning Trust’s spokesman said: “Park House school received a bomb threat in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The school immediately activated emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all students and personnel.
“Students were advised to stay at home and were accompanied by a safe safe area before dismissing a small number of tasks. All students were safe and accountable.
“The security and prosperity of the school community is our highest priority. Park House School works close to the police while conducting a complete investigation.
“Parents and carers will continue to be updated as more information is available.”
