Bootle incident LIVE: Man ‘attacked with axe’ and ‘blood everywhere’ | UK | News

A man was attacked with a knife in a UK town and one local described the horror of “blood everywhere”. There is now a large police cordon in place at Bootle Strand shopping centre, with emergency services arriving at the scene and blocking off much of the center on Stanley Road. There are many shops and restaurants within the promenade.
Merseyside Police said: “At around 5.45pm, officers were called to Stanley Road to reports that a man had been attacked and suffered bladed weapon injuries to his head and face. The victim was taken to hospital for assessment and inquiries are continuing to trace the offenders. House to house, forensic and CCTV work is being carried out in the area tonight and we would appeal for anyone with information to come forward.” However, eyewitnesses claim that the victim was attacked with an axe. A McDonald’s employee speaks Liverpool Echo He said: “We saw them all. One person was hit in the head with an axe. There was a lot of blood. Medical teams came and bandaged his head. The incident happened about an hour ago. We don’t know who it is, but there are always people sitting on the bench.”
