PM Modi to Hold Meeting with Xi Jinping Today

Tianjin [China]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a bilateral meeting between the Chinese President Xi Jinping and a two -day official visit to the country on Sunday.
Prime Minister Modi, who is currently on the second leg of the two nations visit, arrived at Binhai International Airport in Tianjin on Saturday to attend the 25th SCO State Council Presidents Summit between 31 August and September 1. After a two -day visit to Japan, he came to China.
After arriving on Saturday, the Prime Minister received a warm welcome with the dance performance of the artists. In addition, during the summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin is planned to meet.
The SCO summit is very important for India, because it comes after the US’s 50 percent tariffs come into force. Of these, a 25 percent tariff was applied to the new Delhi to buy Russian crude oil. Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the summit with the host, Chinese President Xi Jinping.
SCO consists of 10 members. In addition to India, it includes Belarus, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. There are also several dialogue partners and observers. India has been an observer since 2005 since 2017.
During his membership, India organized the Council of the Presidents of the SCO Government in 2020 and the Council of Presidents from 2022 to 2023. This will be the first visit to China after PM Modi’s conflicts in the Galwan Valley in 2020.
Recently, Lipulekh Pass in India and China, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh Shipki La Pass and Nathu La Pass in Cikkim have taken many steps to improve their bilateral relations, including the restarting of trade.
During the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on August 18th and 19th, both sides agreed to continue the direct flight connection between the earliest Chinese mainland and India and to complete an updated air services agreement.
They also agreed to facilitate visas for tourists, businesses, media and other visitors. Both sides agreed to maintain multi -sides, to develop communication on major international and regional issues, to maintain a multilateral trade system based on rules with the WTO, and to encourage a multipolar world that protects the interests of developing countries.
