Commonfolk, Frankston – The Age Good Food review

All warm tones, music on vinyl, and expansive windows, this 50-seat, long-running roaster is the newest offering from Commonfolk. Half portions make breakfast wallet-friendly, eschewing toast in favor of spicy sambal fried eggs, roti and fried rice cakes. Go all out with the Yin Yang coffee duo: one roast, two drinks.

On Friday and Saturday nights the bags of coffee beans on the counter are kept and replaced with bottles of wine for Franga Nights. The music shifts from easy listening to hip hop and old-school jazz, and dedicated late-night chef Joel Wilson heads to the kitchen to fire up the hibachi grill for beef skewers with nori aioli.

Best for: Power lunches, weekend brunches, and evening hangouts.
