Boxing day opening hours: What time does Tesco, Morrisons and Asda open?
Although all supermarkets are closed on Christmas Day this year, this is not the case for Boxing Day. To help eager shoppers, supermarket chains have confirmed Boxing Day opening hours.
While much of the UK is enjoying the festive cheer or heading out to browse Boxing Day sales, some may need to hit the shops to stock their fridges. Some of the major supermarkets will be open on Boxing Day, while others will operate on reduced hours. It’s also worth noting that some supermarkets will remain closed on Boxing Day and will open on 27 December instead.

Aldi stores in the UK will also be closed on Boxing Day. Aldi stores will reopen from 8am on Saturday 27 December and will remain open as usual until 6pm on Wednesday 31 December.
asda
Asda has confirmed that its stores will be open from 9am to 6pm on Boxing Day. Asda stores will operate normal opening hours from Saturday 27 December until Tuesday 30 December.
Tesco
Tesco Extra stores and Superstores will be open from 9am to 6pm on Boxing Day. The majority of Express stores will be open from 9am to 7pm, with some major Express stores closing at 6pm.
Between Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve, all stores will follow normal opening hours with some local variations.
Morrisons
All Morrisons stores will be open from 9am to 6pm on Boxing Day
Lidl
A spokesman for Lidl confirmed that most of its stores off the M25 and in Wales will be closed on Boxing Day. However, they are encouraging customers to check their local store’s opening times online or via the Lidl Plus app.
Sainsbury’s
On Boxing Day, Sainsbury’s supermarkets will be open from 9am to 6pm and convenience stores will be open from 9am to 9pm. From Saturday, December 27th to Tuesday, December 30th, stores will operate normal hours.
Waiter
A spokesperson for Waitrose confirmed that stores would be closed on Boxing Day.
M&S
M&S stores will be closed on Boxing Day in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. However, it has been reported that some dining halls in Scotland will be open from 9am to 6pm Good Housekeeping UK.
Between 27 and 30 December, stores will be open from 8 am to 8 pm, while some larger branches will be open until 10 pm.
