Brian Walshe admits misleading police in wife Ana’s murder death case

Brian Walshe, the 50-year-old hustler accused of killing his wife, Ana, at her suburban Boston home after learning of an affair, changed his plea to two lesser charges Tuesday morning, just before jury selection began in his murder trial.

Walshe agreed to counts two and three in his three-count indictment, admitting he misled police officers and illegally transported a human body.

As prosecutors outlined their case against him, his defense attorney said he admitted to lesser allegations but continued to deny the murder charge against him.

Walshe’s lawyer denied that Walshe had admitted to murder, that he placed her body in a trash bin, and that he had no role in burning her body.

A moment of argument ensued after prosecutors summoned Walshe after he told the judge under oath that he was still married.

Following a sidebar meeting with the judge, the defense said Walshe acknowledged he was not legally married after his wife’s death.

The judge postponed the sentence, saying that the victim’s family should be given time to prepare their impact statements.
