Brisbane’s best steak frites
From bottomless steak (yes) to Brisbane’s ‘biggest’ steak fries, here’s how you can still get your fix when prices are high.
The price shift in a typical Australian restaurant is particularly apparent when you turn to the menu’s beef programme. After five years of pandemics, drought, inflation and everything else, it may be hard to find a steak for less than $60 at a high-end spot.
But operators in Brisbane are doing their bit by luring punters back to the table with weekly or monthly steak fry deals. There’s all-you-can-eat steak, plenty of bottomless fries, and plenty of add-ons if you want to push the boat; prices start at just $30.
Here’s a group of the best.
Monal Food
Yogesh Budathoki and Roman Bhandari’s handsome little eatery has become a Newstead neighborhood favorite since it opened in 2024.
It recently launched Wildcard Wednesdays, a weekly wagyu beef special. The cut, a collaboration with Condamine’s Joker Wagyu, will rotate monthly. For July, 190-gram wagyu rib-eye fillet served with homemade crispy kipfler potatoes, baby cos with anchovy and mustard sauce and parmesan, and homemade condiments (chimichurri, paprika and mustard).
It’s $55 per person for a minimum of two people, and you can add a glass of Domaine Jubain Cotes du Rhone for just $10.
