Britain First march LIVE: Three arrested and ‘punches thrown at police’ | UK | News

Police arrested three people who attended the Britain First march in Manchester on Saturday (April 18). Hundreds of protesters clashed in the city center with counter-protesters from anti-racism groups calling themselves Britain Resists First.

The Britain First march began at 1.15pm with supporters wandering through Manchester. Both groups are separated by barriers and hundreds of Greater Manchester Police officers are on hand to respond to any violence. Locals are warned of travel disruptions throughout the afternoon due to the suspension of trams in the city centre.

Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham, his deputy Kate Green and council leader Bev Craig said in a joint statement: “There is no place in Greater Manchester for anyone coming here to sow division and incite fear, hatred or violence.”
