British man charged over alleged killing spree as two women shot dead | US | News

A British man has been charged over a brutal murder spree that left two women dead and a man fighting for his life.
Olaolukitan Adon Abel, 26, is facing two murder charges, as well as aggravated assault and firearms offences, following the alleged killings on Monday, April 13.
One of the victims of the attack, 40-year-old Lauren Bullis, was identified as a Department of Homeland Security employee.
He had taken his dog for a walk around 7 a.m. Monday morning.
Police said the woman was shot and stabbed during the fatal incident. The first alleged attack occurred around 1 a.m. outside the Checkers restaurant on Wesley Chapel Road in DeKalb County, a suburb outside Atlanta.
During the incident, a woman named Prianna Weathers, 31, was shot and died in the hospital.
About an hour later, the suspect allegedly drove approximately 26 miles toward Brookhaven, another suburb of Atlanta.
There, a 49-year-old homeless man was shot multiple times while sleeping outside the Kroger grocery store, a major U.S. supermarket chain.
His condition remains critical. Police believe he was targeted randomly.
“It is clear to us that this was a completely random attack on a member of our unsheltered community,” said Brookhaven Police Chief Brandon Gurley.
The final attack occurred a few hours later in Panthersville; where Bullis was found with gunshot and stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators later confirmed that all three attacks were related.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a statement: “These acts of pure evil have devastated our department, and my prayers are with the victim’s families.”
Mr. Mullin’s statement reads: “On Monday, a DHS employee, Lauren Bullis, was brutally shot and stabbed to death by Adon Abel, a 26-year-old UK-born Olaolukitan who was naturalized by the Biden Administration in 2022. Since President Trump took office, @USCIS has implemented measures to ensure that people with criminal histories and lack of good moral character cannot obtain citizenship.
Mr Mullun added: “He [Olaolukitan] He is accused of shooting and stabbing @DHSgov employee Lauren Bullis to death while she was walking her dog. He was also arrested for the murder of an unidentified woman, whom he shot outside Checkers before randomly shooting a homeless man multiple times outside a Kroger in Brookhaven.
“These acts of pure evil have devastated our Ministry and my prayers are with the families of the victims.”
“We are deeply saddened to confirm that Lauren Bullis, a beloved member of the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General team, has tragically passed away,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.
“He was a respected colleague whose contributions and presence will be greatly missed.
“We extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, as well as the families, friends and communities of the other victims.”
“This afternoon, Adon Abel was taken into custody without incident by the Georgia Department of Public Safety in Troup County following coordination with Brookhaven detectives,” the Brookhaven Police Department said in a statement.
“Further investigation revealed that Adon Abel was also responsible for other shootings in unincorporated DeKalb County.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The Brookhaven Police Department is working closely with the DeKalb County Police Department and state partners to ensure all aspects of these incidents are thoroughly investigated.”
