British woman dies at French campsite and a three-year-old is found dead inside a car as country’s deadly heatwave continues

While Europe continues to struggle with the sweltering heat wave, a British woman died at a campsite in France.

The elderly woman is understood to have been staying with her husband at the Baie D-aunis campsite in the western French coastal town of Tranche-sur-Mer when she fell ill.

A campsite worker confirmed to the Daily Mail that he died of a heart attack.

According to a Facebook post from one of the campers, four ambulances and two police cars were seen at the campsite.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been approached for comment.

The Englishman’s death occurred as a heat wave affected Europe, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees in some parts of the continent.

Extreme heat could endanger lives as much of Western Europe cooks under a ‘heat dome’, weather agencies have warned.

A three-year-old child was found dead in a car in France, a police source said on Thursday.

The incident brings to three the number of children killed in extreme weather in France earlier this week when two siblings were left in a hot car.

The siblings, aged four and two, were found unresponsive by their 33-year-old mother in a car parked outside their grandmother’s house in the southern French town of Carpentras on Monday afternoon.

When the temperature reached 40°C, they suffered a heart attack and although paramedics were called to the scene, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

At least 101 million people, including 50 million in France, are expected to experience high temperatures on Thursday.

The country, where approximately 63 million people were exposed to temperatures above 30 degrees, was the country most affected by the epidemic.
