Brixton drive-by shooting ‘act of indiscriminate violence’, say Met police | London

A shooting rampage in Brixton on Saturday that left four people in hospital has been described by police as an “indiscriminate act of violence”.
Shots were fired on Coldharbour Lane in south London in the early hours, leaving a 25-year-old man in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Three other people, aged 21, 47 and 70, were also taken to hospital, but their injuries were not assessed to be life-threatening or life-altering.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said no arrests had been made at this time but detectives were “working rapidly to identify those responsible”.
Police were called at 1.14am following reports that a firearm had been discharged. Police officers, including specialist crime officers, arrived at the scene within minutes and provided emergency first aid alongside the London ambulance service.
A spokesman for the London ambulance service said two people were taken to a major trauma centre, the other two to a local hospital, with a trauma team from the London air ambulance joining the ambulance crews.
Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who led the investigation, said: “We understand how worrying this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working quickly to identify those responsible.
“This was an indiscriminate act of violence and we will work tirelessly to bring the suspects to justice.
“It is vital that anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation comes forward.
“Local residents can expect an increased police presence in the area over the coming days. Please speak to officers if you have any concerns.”
