Bryan Cranston, 70, goes NUDE in wild new trailer for Malcolm In The Middle reboot on Hulu

Bryan Cranston, Frankie Muniz and the remaining cast of Malcolm In The Middle are reprising their roles for the upcoming remake, nearly 20 years after the original series went off the air.

The immensely popular sitcom aired from 2000 to 2006 and revolved around boy genius Malcolm (played by Muniz) navigating his life in his dysfunctional family.

And on Thursday, Hulu released a new trailer for Life’s Still Unfair, giving fans another hilarious look at the four-episode revival ahead of its April 10 premiere.

The official synopsis reads: ‘After protecting himself and his daughter from his family for over a decade, Malcolm is dragged back into their orbit when Hal and Lois request his presence at their 40th anniversary party.’

Along with Muniz, Justin Berfield and Christopher Masterson return as Malcolm’s siblings, Reese and Francis, and Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek return as Malcolm’s crazy parents, Hal and Lois.

Cranston, who later achieved first-class success in AMC’s critically acclaimed movie Breaking Bad, conveys the craziest moment of the new teaser by stripping naked in front of the camera.

As Lois (Kaczmarek) shaves his hairy back in the family’s dining area while on Zoom with the couple’s terrified son Dewey, now played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, the 70-year-old appears completely naked, with only a laptop screen shielding his private parts.

The series’ original Dewey actor, Erik Per Sullivan, 34, is the only original cast member who hasn’t signed on for the reboot.

In the trailer, Ellsworth-Clark is seen speaking for the first time in this role.

Fans of Malcolm In The Middle were impressed by Ellsworth-Clark’s portrayal, praising her for nailing the ‘facial expressions’ of Dewey as he reacts with disgust to Hal’s exhibitionist behaviour.

However, some viewers were unhappy with the casting, as they harshly described Ellsworth-Clark as Dewey’s version of Temu.

As Cranston’s Hal stands in front of his laptop, Ellsworth-Clark’s Dewey says: ‘You know, I can call back later…’

‘Come on, Dewey. ‘You’ve seen me like this a thousand times,’ Hal replies before lifting his leg up on the table and motioning for Lois to start shaving her ‘bush.’

The trailer then cuts to the adult Malcolm, now the father of a teenage girl Leah (Keeley Karsten) and happily in love with his girlfriend (Kiana Madeira).

Famous for breaking the fourth wall, Malcolm bluntly tells the audience: ‘My life is amazing. ‘All I have to do is stay away from my family completely.’

Should classic sitcoms risk changing their cast and style while bringing back beloved characters decades later?

Lois, Hal, and the rest of Malcolm’s family complain that Malcolm has ‘purposely been hiding himself from this family for years’; This signals that Malcolm has made no contact with them.

It is Malcolm’s girlfriend who pushes him to “make peace” with his “anti-social” family; which prompts him to reveal to her for the first time that they have brothers, which shocks him.

The trailer begins with a montage of brutal scenes, including Hal getting hit in the head with a toaster and Malcolm screaming behind the wheel of a car, as the family forces their way back into his life.

The action-packed trailer ends with Malcolm’s daughter Leah having a secret Zoom call with Lois, Hal, Reese, and Francis under a blanket in her bedroom.

Hal, who is known for being emotionally unstable in the series, hilariously asks the young man: ‘What do you want to do when you grow up? Are you going to crush your father’s soul and make him question his own identity?’

Lois is forced to intervene by abruptly closing the family Zoom call while Leah stares at the computer screen with a confused expression.

The new series also stars Anthony Timpano as Malcolm’s youngest brother, Jamie, and newcomer Vaughan Murrae as Hal and Lois’ youngest child, Kelly.

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair was announced in December 2024. At the same time, both Cranston (Hal) and Kaczmarek (Lois) were confirmed to reprise their roles.

Berfield and Masterson later signed on for the four-episode revival.

The first trailer was released in October 2025, and fans were shocked to see how much the cast had changed over the past 20 years.

Reflecting on the experience, Muniz admitted that the reboot exceeded his expectations.

“I’m not exaggerating when I say filming this reboot, like I loved it so much, so much more than I thought it would,” he said on a podcast last year.
