Buddhavanam To Be Developed As World Peace Centre: Jupally

Nalgonda: Buddhavanam in Nagarjunasagar will be developed as a World Peace Centre, tourism minister Jupally Krishna Rao said on Monday.
He was addressing a program organized in Buddhavanam in connection with the third Buddha Dhamma Yatra of Buddhist monks. The minister appreciated the monks who ran a marathon from Kalaburigi to Nagarjuna Sagar in Karnataka to spread the teachings of Lord Buddha.
Krishna Rao said Buddhavanam will be developed as a world-class heritage center and a Global Buddhist Center will be established nearby under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. He added that the culture department will organize a campaign titled “Prabhath Bheeri” through artists to promote Buddhist principles. “When we let go of selfishness and greed, most of our problems will start to solve themselves,” he said.
Labor Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkata Swamy said Buddha’s teachings offer guidance to live a peaceful life. He said there was an opportunity to further develop Buddhavanam as a major tourism destination.
Buddhavanam special officer Mallepalli Laxmaiah, Nagarjunasagar MLA Kunduru Jai Veer Reddy, Buddhism cultural ambassador Gagan Malik and Buddhist monks from Thailand were present.
