Buffett says Trump’s pick of Kevin Warsh for Fed chair was ‘good choice’

Warren Buffett told CNBC that new Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh is a “good choice” for the job.
Warsh made his mark in his first meeting as governor in June by outlining changes to the central bank’s approach while keeping interest rates steady. In testimony to Congress on Tuesday, Warsh promised “regime change” in Fed policy and vowed to fight inflation.
“I think he’s going to do his best to accomplish the job he’s been given, which is 2% inflation and maintaining maximum employment,” Buffett said in an interview with Becky Quick on “Squawk Box.” he said.
“I can’t be perfect at that and be perfect at taking people’s money and making super returns on it, just like I know I am,” he added.
Warsh took office in May after being nominated by President Donald Trump and confirmed by Congress. He will return to the Capitol on Wednesday to testify before the Senate Banking Committee.
“He cares about his country,” Buffett said. “I think that’s true for a lot of people. It doesn’t mean their decisions are always perfect, but because sometimes the decisions are very difficult.” Buffett said.
