Bus driver steers 40 students to safety before dying of cardiac arrest

60-year-old driver D. Narayana Raju saved the lives of 40 engineering students with his cool-headedness just before suffering a heart attack while driving on Monday.

Raju was driving the college bus of Godavari Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET-Rajamahendravaram) along with 40 students along the national highway in Dr.BR Ambedkar Konaseema district. He had a heart attack while behind the wheel. Realizing something was wrong, Raju managed to pull the vehicle to the roadside and park it before collapsing on the steering wheel.

Students on board noticed his collapsed body, it was later confirmed that he died of a heart attack as reported by the GIET media wing.

Narayana Raju, Dr. BR Ambedkar was a native of Madiki village in Konaseema district. The police launched an investigation into the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
