An airport in Australia was evacuated following a ‘bomb threat’ on an incoming plane, Express has confirmed.

Dubbo Airport in New South Wales, 400 kilometers from Sydney, was cleared on Monday morning (June 29) following the threat.

All passengers on the Qantas flight disembarked safely.

Emergency services are currently investigating the threat and New South Wales Police remain at the scene.

The statement made by the council included the following statements: “Dubbo District Council has been informed that a bomb threat was made on a plane bound for Dubbo this morning.”

“The aircraft landed safely and all 74 passengers and crew disembarked. Further investigations are ongoing by the relevant emergency services.”

“Dubbo Regional Airport terminal has been evacuated and is currently closed.

“People are advised to avoid the area and there are police barricades in place.

“If you have a flight today, please contact your airline for more information.”

A Qantas spokesperson added: “There was a security incident at Dubbo Airport this morning which is being investigated by local police and flights have resumed.

“We recognize this may be inconvenient and inconvenient for customers and we thank them for following the instructions of our team and local authorities. Safety is always our first priority.”

Police confirmed they remained at the scene although there was no immediate risk to public safety.

A New South Wales Police spokesman said: “A police operation is currently underway at Dubbo Regional Airport following a threatening call in relation to the flight.

“The airport has been evacuated and there is no immediate risk to public safety.

“Police are at the scene and officers continue to monitor the situation.”
