“All athletes deserve to be evaluated with consistency, honesty and transparency at the highest level of competition.
“We are formally appealing this decision and will raise our concerns with the International Skating Union.”
Olympic champions French Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier Beaudry won the gold medal with 230.81 points, becoming the fourth couple to win Olympic, world and European championships in the same season.
They finished 19.29 points ahead, the largest margin of victory in World Championship history.
Canada’s Olympic bronze medalists Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier won the silver medal, while Zingas and Kolesnik completed the race with 209.20 points, and Fear and Gibson completed the race with 208.98 points.
Fear and Gibson, who won bronze at last year’s World Championships, missed out on a medal at the Olympics last month due to an error in their free dance routine.
Previously, American star Ilia Malinin won the men’s gold medal for the third consecutive time.
He missed out on an Olympic medal last month after falling twice in the free skate.
