Candace Cameron Bure shares dating advice for modern relationships

Candace Cameron Bure is sounding the alarm over what she sees as a growing disconnect in modern relationships.

Bure, 49, acknowledged how much has changed in the modern dating landscape since she found her happily ever after, but was able to offer advice based on her children’s romantic experiences.

“I believe human connection is lost today because of our phones, social media and dating apps,” Bure said. “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast” In a conversation with “Bachelor” alum Madison Prewett. “And I’m not saying those aren’t good tools. I know a lot of people who met on dating apps, I even met you on a dating show.”

“Nobody’s going to drop on your front door like an Amazon package,” he said. “So you have to put yourself out there and not hide behind your phone or the screen or be afraid to have a real conversation with someone on the phone and not be afraid to just text.”

Bure claimed that he sees a growing trend in today’s dating world where men are afraid to talk to or approach women.

“I’ve only seen it in men, I hate to say it, but I’ve found that there are more men who I think are afraid of talking to women,” she explained. “And then the women are there waiting and they say, ‘Hello, do you want to come over no matter what, do you want me to dance, or do you want my number to get coffee, etc.’ And people are just afraid.”

Bure encouraged people to “put themselves out there, talk to people face to face, and be willing to quickly move on to a phone call or face to face, even if your conversation starts with a text.”

The “Full House” star went on to offer tips and tricks for modern dating, including placing yourself in places where you think the type of person you want to date will be. “This is the other big key,” Bure explained. “Find other social groups with like-minded people.”

He also emphasized that long-distance relationships can work.

“Just don’t be afraid of it. Because if it really has to happen, eventually one of you might move,” he said. “And that’s all fine, but don’t be afraid of the effort. I actually think it makes it more exciting.”

Bure and Valeri Bure, who married in June 1996, have three children: Natasha, Lev and Maxim.

The TV star remains close to her children as adults because of the “strong relationships” the family formed when they were young.

“We developed these strong relationships when they were young and throughout their years, in their young teens and then through their teenage years,” Bure explained to Fox News Digital. “And now that they’re adults…now it’s time to be friends with your kids. And that’s pretty great, but that’s the foundation and foundation of why we have this productive relationship as adults.”
