CCI to onboard analysts and data scientists

New Delhi: The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is building institutional capacity to better understand digital markets and the evolving role of artificial intelligence, Chairman Ravneet Kaur said on Wednesday.

He said the regulator should expand its competencies by hiring data scientists and analysts who understand what’s going on behind AI applications.

“I have a team that deals with legal and economic analysis, but we also need to generate insights around understanding AI tools and the way digital markets work,” he said at CCI’s 17th annual day.

Kaur highlighted the need to hire people with skills in forensic auditing and technological understanding.

The regulator is also increasing the number of approvals under the automatic route for ‘seamless’ transactions. “As of today, the green channel accounts for more than 20% (approvals). We have achieved 143 accepted approvals,” Kaur said.

Delivering his speech, CAG K Sanjay Murthy said that the role of CCI will evolve and become the foundation of economic governance. – Our office
