Charges after alleged one-punch attack turns fatal

A case has been filed against a man who allegedly launched a one-punch attack on an elderly man in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A fight allegedly broke out between two men who did not know each other in Brisbane’s West End suburb just after midnight on Sunday.
Police say a 27-year-old Yeronga man hit a 66-year-old man, causing him to fall and hit his head.
The 66-year-old man, who was taken to the hospital, died as a result of a blow to his head.
Detectives arrested the 27-year-old man in Fortitude Valley on Sunday evening following an investigation.
He was charged with one count of unlawful strike causing death and two counts of possession of dangerous drugs.
He will appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
