Former Ukrainian parliamentary speaker shot dead

Former Ukrainian Parliament speaker Andriy Parubi was shot and killed in the Western city Lviv and searches for the killer.

The Chief Public Prosecutor said that an armed man had a few shots in Parubiy and killed him on the spot. The attacker escaped and a human hunt was thrown.

The 54-year-old Parubi was a member of the Parliament, from April 2016 to August 2019, and he was one of the leaders of the protests called for closer ties with the European Union in 2013-14.

In addition, he was the secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council between February and August 2014, a period in which Ukraine and Russia annexed the Eastern Crimean Peninsula.

The authorities immediately did not give any symptoms as to whether the murder was directly connected to Russia’s war in Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, “Interior Minister Ihor Klymanko and Attorney General Ruslan Kravchenko, reported the first known conditions of a terrible murder in Lviv.

He sent condolences to Parubiy’s family and loved ones and added: “All necessary forces and vehicles are entering the investigation and looking for a murderer.”

National police said that the fire in LVIV was reported at noon. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said that it is very important to find the murderer and determine the conditions of the attack.

“This is a security issue in a country in the war, as we have seen, as we have seen.”

He praised Parliament and the government’s colleagues and the government’s contribution of Parubıy to Ukraine’s struggle for sovereignty and independence as one of the leaders of the Euroidan protests in 2013-14.
