Cheese rolling LIVE: Daredevils heading to Cooper’s Hill issued plea – ‘begging you’ | UK | News

Cheese lovers and daredevils gather to attend or witness the world-famous Gloucestershire Cheese Roll, which takes place on the last Bank Holiday Monday in May each year. The quirky event sees brave competitors from around the world chase and try to catch a 7lb Double Gloucester cheese up Cooper’s Hill in Brockworth, one of the steepest hills in England.

Throughout a centuries-old tradition, daredevils often fail when the wheel reaches impressive speeds. Ahead of today’s event, organizers have made a desperate appeal to spectators and participants alike, urging them to use official park zones as locals become increasingly frustrated with roads being clogged every year as they become inundated with international visitors. In a plea posted on Facebook the day before the event, Brockworth, the official page for Coopers Hill Cheese Roll, said: “We are literally begging you to park properly and use one of the listed parking spaces because we are a big whiner about it! The whole area has come to a mass standstill so we need you to please hear us out.”
