Taiwan’s detection of three Chinese military aircraft and six naval vessels over its territory is a routine update on ongoing tensions with China. These detections occur in Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), an airspace where Taiwan monitors potential threats.
Nine of the 11 flights crossed the midline and proceeded towards Taiwan’s northern and southwestern ADIZ.
Taiwanese MND posted on X: “We detected three PLA aircraft and six PLAN ships around Taiwan by 6am today (UTC+8). #ROCARmedForces is monitoring this and responding accordingly.”

On Saturday, Taiwan’s MND reported that 11 Chinese military aircraft and eight naval ships were near its borders.
The post also said, “By 6 am (UTC+8) today, we detected 11 flights of PLA aircraft and 8 PLAN ships around Taiwan. Nine of the 11 flights crossed the midline and moved towards Taiwan’s northern and southwestern ADIZ. Our forces monitored the situation and responded accordingly.”
On Sunday, Taiwan President Lai Ching-te, also known as William Lai, assured the public that the government will strengthen national defense and accelerate economic development, the Taipei Times reported.
In his Lunar New Year speech, President Lai said that Taiwan faces many challenges and thanked the armed forces, coast guard, police and government workers for keeping society running smoothly so that people can enjoy the holiday without worry.
In his Lunar New Year speech, Taiwan President Lai said: “Taiwan has faced many challenges in the past year, but the nation has grown stronger, seizing opportunities to stand taller, see farther and be more resilient. Taiwan’s most beautiful landscape lies not only in its mountains and seas, but also in the people who stand together despite the difficulties.”
He added that his government will continue to work to safeguard national security and social stability, promote economic growth, support global industrial expansion and assist small and micro enterprises (MSMEs).
