US-based Southwest Airlines to set up GIC in Hyderabad

Southwest Airlines has decided to establish a global innovation center in Hyderabad.
The announcement was made by a delegation led by Southwest Airlines’ Chief Information Officer Lauren Woods and Chief Technology Officer Tom Merritt, who visited Prime Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday. The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the US major’s announcement.
He welcomed the senior leadership of the airlines for choosing Hyderabad as the global innovation hub to support the development of their business strategies. Unveiling the growth story of Hyderabad, Mr. Revanth Reddy apprised the delegation about the government’s ambitious vision to transform Telangana into a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047 as part of Telangana Rising 2047.
