N Korea fires ballistic missile towards east: S Korea

The South Korean military announced that North Korea launched a ballistic missile towards the east.

Yonha news agency confirmed Wednesday’s launch was toward the sea off North Korea’s east coast.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff did not provide further details on how far the missile flew.

The launch comes as South Korea prepares to host APEC 2025 Economic Leaders Week in Gyeongju next week.

Senior South Korean officials have previously expressed concern about North Korea receiving missile technology from Russia in exchange for sending troops to support Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

It was unclear whether the last missile fired by North Korea contained any Russian technology.
