Class 8 boy drowns in backwaters

A Class 8 student drowned in the backwaters of Thevara-Konthuruthy on Friday afternoon.

It was stated that the deceased was 13-year-old Asher Antony, son of Nettoor native Martin. It was reported that the child was caught in strong currents while swimming.

The body was found by Fire and Rescue Service divers after an hour-long search. The body was transferred to Ernakulam General Hospital.
