CM Revanth Suggests Uber To Establish Multi-Level Parking Facilities

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged Uber to focus on increasing parking challenges in major cities. The company was asked to come forward and take the initiative to set up multi-storey car parking facilities in identified areas. A delegation led by Uber Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dara Khosrowshahi met CM Revanth Reddy at his residence in Jubilee Hills today.

During the meeting, Dara Khosrowshahi briefed the Prime Minister about Uber’s business operations in Telangana and announced the expansion of its Center of Excellence in Hyderabad. He explained that this facility is the first facility established outside the USA and currently employs 600 engineers. The CEO also expressed the company’s desire to set up an Uber corporate office in Bharat Future City. Dara Khosrowshahi emphasized that the company is keen on expanding further and sought the Telangana government’s support in this endeavour.

The Prime Minister stated that car parking has emerged as a major problem in the country’s major cities and the problem is likely to intensify further in the future. CM Revanth Reddy advised Uber representatives to focus on setting up multi-level parking facilities. The CM also pointed out that inadequate parking infrastructure near Metro Railway stations was causing numerous problems.

Responding to the CM’s proposal to set up parking facilities along with EV charging centres, the Uber delegation assured that the company will conduct a study on this issue.

CM Revanth Reddy briefed Uber representatives about the ‘Bharat Future City’ being developed near Hyderabad. Spanning 30,000 acres, the new city is unique on a global scale. He said that the state government has invited 500 world-renowned companies to operate here and various organizations have already come forward. The Prime Minister stated that Future City is located just 25 km from Shamshabad Airport and more than 100 companies attended the Global Summit held here last December and submitted investment proposals.

Dara Khosrowshahi expressed the company’s interest in establishing an Uber corporate office in Future City. Uber Chief Business Officer (CBO) Madhu Kannan, Uber India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh, Chief Technology Officer Praveen Nippalli Naga and CM’s Special Secretary Ajith Reddy attended this meeting.
