Cockroach Janta Party’s X account withheld in India hours after it surpasses BJP on Instagram with nearly 13 million followers
CJP is a satirical political online movement that emerged last week and took the internet by storm with over 6 lakh registrations until account X was shut down in India. However, at the time of this report, his Instagram account was active with more than 12 million followers.

CJP beats BJP on Instagram
CJP has officially surpassed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Instagram follower count, garnering over 12 million followers within four days of its launch. As of Thursday, CJP has 13 million followers, dwarfing the BJP’s 8.7 million at the time of reporting. While the BJP maintained its account with more than 18,000 posts, the CJP reached a record number of followers with 56 posts.

Cockroach Janta Party founder
Cockroach Janta Party was founded by Abhijeet Dipke, who is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public relations in the USA. Abhijeet Dipke is a 30-year-old Indian political communications strategist and founder of CJP.
He is known for his work in digital political messaging, online narrative creation, and election campaign strategy. Dipke completed his bachelor’s degree in journalism in Pune before moving to the United States for higher education. She recently graduated from Boston University with a two-year master’s degree in Public Relations.
He worked with the Aam Aadmi Party between 2020 and 2023 and took part in the party’s social media and election campaign operations. During the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, in which the Arvind Kejriwal-led party won a landslide victory, Dipke, then 24, contributed to meme-driven digital campaigns for AAP.
Dipke told India Today that he is currently in the US and there are no plans to form the Cockroach Janata Party.
“And as I told you, none of this was planned. If I had, I wouldn’t have done it from the US. I would have done it in India. But I want to underscore this: this happened because of the frustration that young people have been carrying for years. India has the largest youth population, and the majority of this young population is out of the workforce,” he said.
What is a Cockroach Janta Party?
The platform, which started as a joke after Chief Justice of India Surya Kant described young unemployed Indians as ‘like cockroaches’, the manifesto published by CJP includes several important political reform proposals, including banning Rajya Sabha seats for former chief justices after retirement, 50% reservation for women in Parliament without increasing the power of the House, and a 20-year political ban on elected representatives switching parties after winning elections.
