Cole Allen named suspect in White House Correspondents’ Dinner attack

The man accused of opening fire at the Washington Hilton Hotel during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner has been identified as 31-year-old Cole Allen of Torrance, California.
At a press conference late Saturday night, authorities said Allen ran into a Secret Service checkpoint armed with multiple weapons during the incident.

Allen is charged with two counts of using a firearm during a crime of violence and assaulting a federal officer using a dangerous weapon, United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro told reporters at the news conference. More charges are expected, Pirro said.
The Secret Service said Allen was not shot but was captured and taken to a local hospital.
President Donald Trump, along with First Lady Melania Trump and other senior cabinet officials, were escorted away from the venue by the Secret Service. A Secret Service officer was injured by a bullet that hit his ballistic vest and was taken to a local hospital.
